Family-Friendly Promotions Highlight Griffins' 2010-11 Schedule

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - A series of unique giveaways and performing acts highlight the Grand Rapids Griffins' revamped promotional schedule for their upcoming 2010-11 season.

The festivities begin on Friday, Oct. 8 with Opening Night presented by Comcast, which features a Glow Bam and Clingz schedule giveaway along with a post-game open skate.

Single-game tickets for the opener, as well as all 40 of the Griffins' regular season home games at Van Andel Arena, will go on sale to the general public this Friday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. Ticket prices are $13, $15 and $17 in the arena's upper bowl, and $17, $20, $25 and $30 in the lower bowl. For Sunday-Thursday games, a limited number of advanced purchase, upper bowl tickets will also go on sale for just $5 one week prior to the contest. Griffins tickets can be purchased in advance of game night through the following methods (all purchases subject to a convenience charge):

* In person at The Zone at Van Andel Arena;

* In person at Star Tickets outlets, including all Meijer stores;

* Online through griffinshockey.com ;

* By phone through Star Tickets at 1-800-585-3737.

On game night, tickets may be purchased without a convenience charge at the Van Andel Arena box office, beginning 90 minutes before game time. Fans who attend multiple games can avoid charges and receive a discount from the single-game price by purchasing a 10- or 20-game partial season package. These plans, along with full season and group ticket packages, may be ordered through the Griffins' office at (800) 2-HOCKEY.

Several noted performers will visit Van Andel Arena this season to entertain Griffins fans, including two acts previously featured on America's Got Talent - Quick Change (March 20) and the Russian Bar Trio (Nov. 28) - as well as the ZOOperstars (Jan. 22).

The Griffins' ever-expanding series of giveaways for 2010-11 includes Glow Bams (Oct. 8), Clingz schedules (Oct. 8 and 30), rally towels (Oct. 30 and Nov. 5), aluminum water bottles (Nov. 6), fleece blankets (Nov. 20), drawstring backpacks (Dec. 4), team calendars (Dec. 31), U-M and MSU-themed Griffins hats (Jan. 1), Jimmy Howard bobbleheads (Jan. 22), fan vote bobbleheads (Feb. 5), bottle openers (March 5) and team posters (March 19).

In addition, as part of "Sunday is Fun Day," every Sunday game will feature a CrazyBands giveaway, plus giveaways of either jersey cards or a Griffins #1 Fan sign (March 20 only). Sundays will also feature $1 Cole's Breadsticks and $1 soft drinks, as well as live music from Jaded 8.

Other key promotional dates include a Halloween costume party (Oct. 30), the 10th Annual Matinee Game (Nov. 10), the Teddy Bear Toss (Nov. 26), the 14th Annual New Year's Eve Celebration (Dec. 31), the Griffins' first-ever New Year's Day game (Jan. 1), Star Wars Night (March 5), Mascot Mania (March 19) and Fan Appreciation Day (March 20).

The popular Dollar Beers and Hot Dogs promotion returns in conjunction with College Night for all 17 Friday home games this season, allowing fans to enjoy $1 hot dogs and $1 domestic drafts from 6-8 p.m., while supplies last. Several other recurring promotions will be featured throughout the Griffins' schedule, including Winning Wednesdays, 16 post-game open skates, and 10 Huntington Bank post-game autograph sessions with select Griffins players.

SEASON-LONG PROMOTIONS

Dollar Beers and Hot Dogs: Every Friday, enjoy $1 hot dogs and $1 domestic drafts from 6-8 p.m., while supplies last.

College Nights presented by Chemical Bank: Every Friday home game, college students can show their ID to purchase a lower bowl ticket for $12 (or $10 in advance at The Zone) and stop by the McFadden's concourse table to receive a free pass to the post-game party at McFadden's.

Winning Wednesday: Every time the Griffins win at home on Wednesday, each fan in attendance will receive a free ticket to the next Wednesday game.

Sunday is Fun Day!: Every Sunday, enjoy $1 Cole's Breadsticks and $1 soft drinks until one hour after the start of the game. Features Jersey Card and Crazy Band giveaways for the kids and live music from Jaded 8.
