Chicago Fire Forward Collins John Earns AT&T MLS Goal of the Week Nomination

CHICAGO, IL (Sept. 7, 2010) - Chicago Fire forward Collins John earned his first AT&T MLS Goal of the Week nomination after scoring his third goal of the 2010 season in the Fire's 1-1 tie against the LA Galaxy at TOYOTA PARK.

In the 88th minute, John - who had come on for midfielder Patrick Nyarko in the 82nd - curled a 19-yard free kick from the left side of the field around the Galaxy wall and into the back of the net, beating goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts to give the Fire the 1-0 lead.

The Chicago Fire (6-7-7, 25 points) sit in fifth place in the Eastern Conference, but are still in the hunt for the MLS Cup Playoffs and will host north of the border playoff competitor Toronto FC (7-9-6, 27 points) at TOYOTA PARK on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 7:30 PM CT (My50).
