Columbus Cottonmouths News Release
The Columbus Cottonmouths have re-signed a pair of forwards as Blake Miller and Daryl Moore will enter their second season with the Snakes. The Cottonmouths also welcome goaltender Adam Chalifoux for his first professional season.
Miller came to the Snakes in January, picking up an assist in 21 games. The 6-foot-4 Michigan native played mostly defense last year, but is expected to make the transition to forward this season. Prior to joining the Snakes, Miller picked up 51 points in 97 games at Finlandia University. This will be his first full professional season.
Moore came to the Snakes in late March last season after being claimed off waivers from the Louisiana IceGators. In 37 games with Louisiana, he collected 34 points. The Brantford, Ontario native has had a successful career in the SPHL, picking up 181 points in 161 games over the last four seasons. He spent time with both the Twin City Cyclones and IceGators before finding a home in Columbus. Last season, Moore picked up four points in the final six regular season games for Columbus. In game two of the playoffs, his game-tying goal with 12 seconds remaining in regulation led to an overtime victory, which evened the playoff series with top-seeded Mississippi.
Chalifoux, 21, joins the Snakes for his first professional season. In preparation for his professional debut, Adam has been working with goaltending coach, Frankie 'The Wall' Ouellette, one of the most decorated goaltenders in Snakes history whose #30 is retired by the Snakes. Chalifoux split time last season with the Joliette Traffic and Saint-Jerome Panthers of the QJAAAHL. He collected 24 wins in 45 games played, recording a 3.66 Goals Against Average and .895 save percentage. Chalifoux spent the 2008-09 season with the Princeville Titans of the QJAAAHL, picking up 23 wins in 37 games with a 3.38 GAA and .892 save percentage.
The Snakes training camp roster has now reached 13 players, including eight returning players and five newcomers. Season tickets are on sale now, with mini packs starting at just $88. Individual game tickets will go on sale to the public Monday, Oct. 4 at 10 a.m.
