Cats Fall to Rocks in Finale at Frawley

The Hillcats lost in a 8-2 at Wilmington in the series finale on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Rocks struck for seven runs in the first three innings en route to salvaging a win in the three-game series.

Wilmington started their offense early with a run in the first inning on a solo home run by Christian Colon. Three more runs came across for for the Blue Rocks in the second inning. Salvador Perez hit a two-run homer and Colon singled in a run to make it 4-0.

The Rocks struck for three more runs in the bottom of the third. Perez smacked another long ball, this time a three-run shot that upped the advantage to 7-0 for the home team. Lynchburg responded in the top of the fourth with a run to get on the board. Cody Puckett blasted his 17 homer of the season out to left field. It marked the fourth straight game that he has homered. The Hillcats would plate one more run in the top of the eighth inning and the Blue Rocks would tack on one more run in the bottom of the frame.

The loss went to starter Ezequiel Infante (0-1) for Lynchburg (26-28, 55-69) and the win went to starter Buddy Baumann (4-2) for Wilmington (29-27, 61-64). The Hillcats still took two out of three in the three game set.

They now return home on Monday night for game one of a four-game series with Winston-Salem and the first contest of a seven-game homestand at 7:05 p.m. at City Stadium. Right-hander Josh Ravin (1-0, 0.00) will get the nod for the Cats against righty Stephen Sauer (7-9, 4.98) getting the start for the Dash.
