South Carolina Stingrays News Release

The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Cail MacLean announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forward Trent Campbell. In keeping with club policy, details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Campbell, 27, led the Stingrays in scoring last season with 20 goals and 48 assists for a career-best 68 points in 60 games. The Beauval, SK native also appeared in six games with the Houston Aeros and Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League netting a goal and an assist.

"We are very excited to have Trent in a Stingrays jersey again this year," said MacLean. "Offensive creativity, defensive awareness and a hard-nosed playing style all combine to make him an elite forward in the ECHL. In addition, his calm demeanor and consistent effort make him a great on-ice role model for our team's younger players."

Since joining the Stingrays as a rookie in 2007, the 5-foot-10, 175-pound forward registered 155 points (53g, 102a) in 154 games. Campbell spent most of the 2008-09 season in the AHL skating with the Sharks and the Portland Pirates earning five goals and 10 assists for 15 points in 33 games. Campbell returned to South Carolina to appear in all 23 playoff contests and contributed 24 points (6g, 18a) as the Stingrays captured their ECHL-record third Kelly Cup title. Prior to turning pro, Campbell skated for four seasons at Lake Superior State University totaling 90 points (36g, 54a) in 153 games.
