July 20, 2010 - Midwest League (MWL1)
South Bend Silver Hawks News Release

The South Bend Silver Hawks are "stepping up to the plate" on Monday, July 26, to try to boost the blood supply as they host a special blood drive at Coveleski Stadium. The Silver Hawks plan to collect 200 blood donations with the help of the local community and businesses.

The Silver Hawks blood drive will take place on Monday, July 26, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Coveleski Stadium at Gate A, located at 501 W. South St. in South Bend. Come to donate and receive an American Red Cross/Silver Hawks stadium seat cushion and a voucher good for any Sunday through Tuesday Silver Hawks 2010 regular season game.

"The Red Cross is excited to partner with the South Bend Silver Hawks to help boost our blood supply this summer," said Sharyn Whitman, CEO for the Indiana-Ohio Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross.

"This is a difficult time to collect blood. While many families are traveling, high schools and colleges are out of session and regular blood donors often take a break from giving blood. We rely on businesses and the community to help ensure an adequate blood supply."

"This is a great opportunity for us to partner with the American Red Cross and give back to the community that has been so supportive of the Silver Hawks. We excited to be a part of this special community event." said Amy Hill, Director of Marketing and Community Partnerships for the South Bend Silver Hawks.

"Step up to the plate" with the Silver Hawks and help them reach their goal of 200 blood donations. Call 1-800-RED CROSS or log onto redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code "silverhawks" to schedule your blood donation appointment. Appointments are recommended; walk-ins are also welcomed.
