
First Season of Young Leaders Program a Success

PORTLAND, ME - The first season of the Maine Red Claws Young Leaders program will come to a close next Thursday with Joseph Foley, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Unum Group, as the 10th guest mentor to address the group. The event will be held at the Portland Harbor Hotel on July 29 at 5:30 PM. The program is co-sponsored by The Portland Press Herald and PROPEL, a greater Portland young professionals networking and business organizational group formed in association with the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Limited to just 150 members ages 40 and under, the Maine Red Claws Young Leaders program gives up-and-coming business leaders the opportunity to network with one another while learning from some of the top professionals in the state to help them develop the skills they need to help further their roles as business and community leaders in Maine. The first season of the program featured ten of the top business leaders in Maine:
- Bill Ryan, Retired Chairman of the Board of TD Bank, Inc.
- Michael Dubyak, President and CEO of Wright Express Corporation
- Richard Connor, CEO of MaineToday Media
- Eileen Skinner, CEO of Mercy Hospital
- John Leonard, CEO of MEMIC
- Suzanne McCormick, CEO of Greater Portland United Way
- Meredith Burgess, CEO of Burgess Advertising & Marketing
- Joe Boulos, Founder and CEO of The Boulos Company
- Jon Jennings, President and General Manager of the Maine Red Claws & Austin Ainge, Head Coach of the Maine Red Claws
- Joseph Foley, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Unum Group
In addition to the networking events, the members of the Young Leaders program were given the opportunity to participate group service projects, including participating in the United Way's 2010 Day of Caring, as well as social events, including attending a Boston Red Sox game.
The $300 program fee includes a Maine Red Claws season ticket, access to the ten Young Leaders Program events, including a Maine Red Claws open practice event and pre-game "Chalk Talk" with the Red Claws coaching staff, and a team gift.
