BURLINGTON, VT --- Former University of Vermont and current Boston Bruins goalie Tim Thomas will be at historic Centennial Field this Friday night to throw out the first pitch and sign autographs as the Vermont Lake Monsters host the Aberdeen Ironbirds in a New York-Penn League 7:05 pm game.A member of the UVM athletic Hall of Fame, Thomas was a four-year starter (1993-97) at the University of Vermont and finished with a 2.70 career Goals Against Average and is still second among all NCAA Division I goalies with 3,950 career saves. He had a 2.56 GAA in 43 games with the Boston Bruins this past season and was also a member of the 2010 United States Olympic team. Thomas won the Vezina Trophy as the top NHL goaltender after going 36-11-7 with a 2.10 GAA during the 2008-2009 season.
Thomas will be joined at Centennial Field on Friday by University of Vermont to Men's Hockey Coach Kevin Sneddon and members of the 2009-10 UVM team which advanced to the NCAA Tournament, losing to Wisconsin in the first round. Friday is also the Lake Monsters annual salute to the "Summer of Love" sponsored by Ben & Jerry's and Linking Learning To Life.
