Wolves Open Arms for a Krug

The Chicago Wolves have signed defenseman MATT KRUG (KRUHG).

KRUG appeared in 75 games with the International Hockey League's Muskegon Lumberjacks during his professional debut last season. He shared first among IHL defensemen with 14 goals and paced league blueliners with 47 points. The 25-year-old also shared second among league rearguards with 33 assists and ranked seventh overall in the IHL with 209 penalty minutes.

The Southfield, Mich., native posted nine points (4G, 5A) and 56 penalty minutes in 29 games as a senior at Robert Morris University (CHA) in 2008-09. He also appeared in one postseason contest with the Central Hockey League's Texas Brahmas after the completion of his college season in the spring of 2009.

KRUG also spent three seasons at Wayne State University (CHA), amassing 34 points (10G, 24A) and 232 penalty minutes in 105 games. Overall, the blueliner collected 29 assists, 43 points and 288 penalty minutes in 134 career CHA outings, spanning four seasons (2005-09), before turning pro.

In accordance with team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
