Moose Sign David Shantz

The Manitoba Moose announced today they have signed goaltender David Shantz to an American Hockey League contract.

Shantz, 24, appeared in 30 games last season with the Abbotsford Heat. In that span, he earned a 15-10-4 record, 2.75 goals against average, and 0.908 save percentage. He also suited-up for 28 games with the Victoria Salmon Kings of the ECHL where he boasted an 18-5-4 record, 2.88 goals against average, and 0.910 save percentage.

The Burlington, ON native has played in 58 career AHL games between Rochester and Abbotsford where he accumulated a 20-27-7 record, 3.09 goals against average, and 0.900 save percentage.

Shantz was originally drafted by the Florida Panthers in the second round, 37th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
