Pearl, MS- For the fourth time in five games, the Mobile Bay Bears defeated the Mississippi Braves behind a strong offensive effort. The Bay Bears surged for seven runs in the 4th inning to knock out starter Jacob Thompson and take control of the game. Mobile scored their first run in the top of the 3rd inning when Ollie Linton homered over the right field wall. The home run tied the game at one and was just the third home run in Linton's career and first of the season. The home run from Linton was a sign of things to come as Collin Cowgill homered to lead off the 4th inning and give the Bay Bears a 2-1 lead.
Following the Cowgill homer, Mobile would lash out for six more runs in the 4th to give themselves an 8-1 lead. Altogether, there was one homer, five singles, two walks and an error. The Bay Bears sent eleven batters to the plate and delivered a knock-out blow with the big inning.
The Braves picked up their final run of the game in the bottom of the 4th. A one-out double by Mauro Gomez was his second of three hits in the game and got the Braves going in the 4th. With Gomez at second base, Concepcion Rodriguez came up and doubled in Gomez to make the score 8-2. This would be as close as Mississippi would get as Josh Collmenter silenced the Braves' bats the rest of the night.
