Connecticut Whale News Release
HARTFORD, June 11, 2010: Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Wolf Pack has exercised its option on defenseman Trevor Glass' American Hockey League contract, re-signing Glass for the 2010-11 season.
The 22-year-old Glass spent the 2009-10 season on the roster of the Wolf Pack's ECHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, but was unable to play due to injury. He originally signed an AHL contract with the Wolf Pack July 13, 2009.
Prior to turning pro, Glass, a 6-0, 197-pound native of Cochrane, Alberta, enjoyed a five-year Junior hockey career in the Western Hockey League (WHL). In 57 games with the Spokane Chiefs in 2008-09, the 6-0, 197-pound Glass scored six goals and added 19 assists for 25 points. Those totals ranked him third among team defensemen in points, goals and assists. Glass also registered 28 penalty minutes and a +16. In the postseason, Glass led all Chiefs blueliners in assists, and finished second among team defensemen in points, with four helpouts in 10 games.
Glass won a Memorial Cup with the Chiefs in 2007-08, after being acquired in a trade from the Medicine Hat Tigers. He also helped the Tigers capture a WHL championship, and advance as far as the championship game of the Memorial Cup, in 2006-07. One of his cohorts that year on the Medicine Hat blueline was current Wolf Pack defenseman Michael Sauer.
In 247 career WHL contests with Medicine Hat and Spokane, Glass totaled 21 goals and 61 assists for 82 points, along with 126 PIM.
