Huntsville Stars News Release
KODAK, TENN. - The Milwaukee Brewers have made a few roster moves that will impact their Double-A affiliate Huntsville Stars prior to tonight's game at Tennessee.
RHP Amaury Rivas has been activated from the disabled list. Prior to going on the DL back on May 31, Rivas, the ace of the Stars pitching staff, was 5-3 with a 2.64 ERA. In 10 starts (including one complete game), he has only surrendered one home run.
In a related move, RHP Alex Periard has been placed on the DL, retroactive to June 6. Periard is 2-4 with a 4.71 ERA in 2010. In 63 innings pitched, he has given up 33 earned runs. Periard's last start was on Saturday against Tennessee. He went 5.1 innings, giving up four runs on eight hits. The Stars lost that game 8-5 but Periard walked away with a no-decision.
Huntsville's closer RHP Brandon Kintzler has been promoted to Triple-A Nashville. Kintzler has recorded 10 saves in 10 opportunities this season with the Stars. He has proven himself as a solid closer time and time again, carrying a 0.40 ERA through 20 appearances. He has given up just one earned run and 11 hits in 22.1 innings. Kintzler's walk to strikeout ratio is an astounding 1-to-23.
LHP Lucas Luetge has been promoted to Huntsville from Single-A Brevard County. In 16 appearances for the Manatees, Luetge is 1-1 with a 2.29 ERA. He has one start in Brevard, going 3.2 innings and not allowing a single run on four hits. He walked one and struck out four.
With these moves, the Stars active roster is at 24, the Southern League limit.
The Stars and Smokies face off at 6:15 p.m. CST today at Smokies Park for game three of the five-game series. For more information, visit www.huntsvillestars.com.
