Anaheim Signs Defenseman Sheldon Brookbank To Two-year Contract Extension

Syracuse, NY (June 2, 2010) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Anaheim Ducks have signed defenseman Sheldon Brookbank to a two-year contract extension. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Brookbank, 29, appeared in 66 games for the Ducks in 2009-10, tallying nine assists with a plus-10 rating and 114 penalty minutes. Brookbank, who appeared in his 100th career NHL game on November 16 at Pittsburgh, set career highs in points, assists, plus/minus, penalty minutes and blocked shots (59). The 6-1, 200-pound blueliner also finished second on the Ducks in plus/minus and penalty minutes.

A native of Lanigan, Saskatchewan, Brookbank was acquired by Anaheim from New Jersey in exchange for David McIntyre on February 3, 2009. He won the Eddie Shore Trophy as the AHL's top defenseman in 2006-07, leading all blueliners with 53 points (15g, 38a).
