Storm Set To Host 2nd Annual 5k/10k On Memorial Day

LAKE ELSINORE, CA- The Lake Elsinore Storm, Single-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, will host its annual Memorial Day 5k/10k race and kid's fun run on Monday, May 31st at The Diamond in Lake Elsinore.

The registration cost is $28 for adults and $18 for kids, seniors (55+) and all military personnel, active or inactive, with proper identification. Runners will race on the lake levee before finishing on The Diamond's playing field. Set to begin at 8:30 a.m., the Memorial Day race will feature 13 different age divisions. Each participant will receive a commemorative t-shirt, a goody bag and a ticket to the Storm Memorial Day game that afternoon at 2:05pm.

Portions of the proceeds will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and All from the Heart. The Wounded Warrior Project is a non-profit organization that was founded on the principal that veterans are the nation's greatest citizens. The organization also provides a wide range of support for the veterans by offering unique programs and services such as raising public awareness and support in providing a means for veterans to help each other.

All from the Heart is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 to support local military families in need. The organization was founded by five individuals that have a heart for assisting these families and desiring to provide them with support in their time of need.

Give Your Sole will also be helping out collectiing shoes from the runners. Give Your Sole is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. All donations will be evaluated and shoes will be distributed among local charities and other well established organizations that work together with Give Your Sole.

The race will be part of the Storm's Red, White, and Blue Weekend where the team will pay homage to all of our Nation's military branches. The weekend will begin on Friday, May 27 and conclude on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31.
