Boston Breakers News Release
Breakers co-captain Kristine Lilly has been chosen by The Sports Museum for a special honor at The Tradition in 2010. The Tradition honors a new set of Boston sports legends each year.
Lilly will be honored during a gala at TD Garden on Monday, June 14, 2010 along with Bobby Orr and the 1970 Stanley Cup winning Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox legend Dwight Evans, New England Patriots great Steve Nelson, beloved Red Sox analyst and former player Jerry Remy and Boston Celtics great Jo-Jo White. Lilly is the only 2010 Tradition recipient still actively playing.
"I'm truly humbled by this honor," said Lilly. "To be mentioned in the same breath as this year's recipients is a wonderful thing. It just shows that women's soccer is taking root here in New England and that we have a great future ahead of us."
As captain of the Boston Breakers, Lilly was a 2009 WPS All-Star and was the only player to start and play all twenty matches last season scoring three goals and three assists. Lilly has two assists so far in the 2010 season.
