Jaxx take four of five in Huntsville over Stars

HUNTSVILLE, AL. - Mauricio Robles (3-1) struck out 10 and fired seven innings on Saturday in Huntsville helping the Diamond Jaxx (15-14) beat Huntsville (16-14), 4-1. The Diamond Jaxx took four of five in the series and are a ½ game back of the Stars for second place and 4 ½ games back of first place Tennessee. The Jaxx improve their road record to 11-4.

Robles and Jaxx reliever Aaron Jensen (S, 1) combined to strikeout 12 Huntsville Stars. Jaxx starters worked at least six innings in all five games in Huntsville. Jensen earned his first save of the year striking out two in two shutout innings on the mound.

Johan Limonta picked up his fourth three-hit game of the year, finishing 3-for-5. Jose Yepez was 2-for-4 with an RBI in his Jaxx debut on Saturday and Kuo Hui Lo was also 2-for-4 with an RBI.

The Jaxx scored first by putting two runs on the board in the top of the second inning. Joe Dunigan opened the inning with his third double of the year and scored on an RBI single by Kuo Hui Lo. In Jose Yepez' first at bat of the season, he knocked in Lo with a single to give the Jaxx a 2-0 lead in the top of the second.

Mike Wilson battled Stars' reliever Mark Willinsky in a 10 pitch at-bat with the bases loaded and finally singled in Jose Yepez to put the Jaxx in front of the Stars, 3-0. West Tenn did strand the bases loaded in the inning.

Carlos Peguero delivered a two out RBI single scoring Kuo Hui Lo in the top of the sixth inning. The RBI by Peguero ties him with Alex Liddi for the team lead with 23 driven in.

The Stars were held hitless by Robles from the second until the seventh inning. In the seventh, the Stars got a RBI double from Chris Errecart to end the shutout.

The Jaxx will enjoy a day off on Sunday before opening up a five game homestand against the Mobile BayBears at Pringles Park, beginning on Monday night. Making the start on Monday for the Jaxx is RHP Michael Pineda (2-0, 1.27). Pineda is fifth in the Southern League in ERA. Mobile will send to the mound RHP Wes Roemer (2-1, 1.96). On Monday, Kids and Seniors can eat free at Pringles Park with paid admission, presented by Nestle.
