Erie Otters News Release

The Erie Otters have announced that defenseman Paul Cianfrini has signed to a professional contract with the International Hockey League's Port Huron Icehawks.

Cianfrini joins forward Zack Torquato as the second Erie Otter to sign a professional contract in the past week. Torquato suited up for the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads in a pair of weekend losses to the Bakersfield Condors.

A native of Dundas, Ontario, Cianfrini played 175 games with the Otters after being acquired in a trade from the Belleville Bulls in November 2007. The overager served as an alternate captain this season and collected career-highs of 17 assists and 19 points. His +11 rating was the best among Otters defensemen.

The 6-0, 210-lb. blueliner is expected to suit up for the Icehawks tonight against the Flint Generals in Port Huron. There are six games remaining in the regular season before the Icehawks begin their playoff run.
