
U.S. Nat'l U17 Team Falls to Waterloo, 7-1, in Season Finale

WATERLOO, Iowa - The U.S. National Under-17 Team fell to the Waterloo Black Hawks, 7-1, here tonight in its final game of the season.
Waterloo scored the game's first seven goals, including notching three first-period goals and a pair of tallies in the second and third frames. Team USA's lone marker came at 10:53 of the third period, when Michael Mersch (Park Ridge, Ill.) notched his first goal of the season with the U.S. National Under-17 Team. J.T. Miller (East Palestine, Ohio) logged the lone assist on the U.S. goal.
Team USA goalie Matt McNeely (Burnsville, Minn.) stopped 40 shots in the loss, while Waterloo netminder C.J. Motte turned aside 25 U.S. shots.
USA Hockey's National Team Development Program, composed of the U.S. National Under-17 and Under-18 Teams, posted a combined 25-31-4 record in its first full season in the United States Hockey League since 2000.
