SPHL All-Rookie Team Announced

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League on Thursday announced its 2009-2010 All-Rookie Team as selected in a vote of SPHL coaches and media representatives. To be eligible for this award, a player may not have played in more than 25 professional games prior to the start of the 2009-2010 season.

F - Jesse Biduke, Fayetteville FireAntz (45gp, 25g, 31a, 56pts, +5) F - Levi Lind, Columbus Cottonmouths (53gp, 19g, 33a, 52pts, +12) F - Jesse Cole, Columbus Cottonmouths (50gp, 28g, 21a, 49pts, +2) D - Dean Petiot, Huntsville Havoc (48gp, 2g, 9a, 11pts, +14) D - Mark Hinz, Pensacola Ice Flyers (48gp, 12g, 16a, 28p, E) G - Mark Sibbald, Huntsville Havoc (23gp, 15-3-3, 2.52 gaa,.919 save%)

Jesse Biduke of the Fayetteville FireAntz leads SPHL rookies with 56 points, 11 power-play goals, 12 power-play assists and three game-winning goals, while his 25 goals and 31 assists place him second among rookies. Biduke ranks second on the team in goals and power-play goals and third in assists and points.

Levi Lind of the Columbus Cottonmouths leads all rookies with 33 assists, one shorthand goal and two shorthand assists, while his 52 points is second and 19 goals third among rookies. Lind also leads the Cotttonmouths in assists, power-play goals and plus/minus and is tied for the team lead in points with Tim Green.

Jesse Cole of the Columbus Cottonmouths leads all first-year players with 28 goals, while his 49 points is third among rookies. Cole also leads Columbus in goals, while ranking second on the team in points and power-play goals.

Dean Petiot of the Huntsville Havoc leads all defensemen with a +/- rating of +14, which is tied for third-best among all SPHL players. Petiot's +14 rating also ties him with Mike MacDonald for the team lead.

Mark Hinz of the Pensacola Ice Flyers is tied for the league lead for goals by a defensemen with 12, leads all blue-liners with eight power-play goals and is tenth among all defensemen with 28 points. His eight goals with the man advantage is also tied for second-best on the Ice Flyers.

Mark Sibbald of the Huntsville Havoc leads all SPHL netminders with a 2.52 goals-against average, while his.919 save percentage is tied for second overall. Sibbald was twice recalled to the Central Hockey League, playing one game with the Laredo Bucks and another 11 with the Mississippi RiverKings where he went 5-4-1. Despite the recall, Sibbald is still tied for fourth in the SPHL with 15 wins.

The SPHL will announce its First-Team All-SPHL and Second-Team All-SPHL teams on Friday.
