Mississippi RiverKings News Release
SOUTHAVEN, MS --- Former Memphis RiverKings star forward Don Parsons will be a guest on Sports 56 Middays tomorrow (Friday) afternoon. Fans will have the opportunity to hear the record-setting goal scorer at about 12:45 PM on the flagship station of the RiverKings home and away game broadcasts, Sports 56 WHBQ-AM 560 and www.sports56whbq.com.
Parsons will be interviewed during the segment by hosts Greg Gaston and Eli Savoie. Topics will include his playing career, especially his time with the RiverKings, and the retirement of his number 13 jersey, which will take place Saturday night, March 13th. The RiverKings host the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs that evening and the jersey retirement ceremony will preceed the start of the game.
In a stellar career throughout minor professional hockey, Parsons set several records, most notably the record for most career goals scored by a minor professional hockey player, and most goals scored by an American-born player at all professional levels. Parsons' career ended with his retirement from hockey last season with the Bloomington (IL) Prairie Thunder of the International Hockey League.
The retirement of Parsons' jersey Saturday night will mark just the second time in the franchise's history a jersey number has been retired.
Mississippi plays two home games this weekend at the DeSoto Civic Center, hosting the Texas Brahmas Friday night and Bossier-Shreveport on Saturday night. Game time each evening is 7:05 PM.
Single game tickets for RiverKings hockey are available through Ticketmaster and the DCC box office. For group tickets and information about season ticket packages for next year, call the RiverKings offices at 662-342-1755 today!
