FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Sean O'Connor scored two goals and goaltender Tim Haun saved all 25 shots he faced to lead the Fort Wayne Komets to a 5-0 victory over the Bloomington PrairieThunder before 5,813 people Wednesday at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in International Hockey League action.
The loss dropped the PrairieThunder record to 25-25-2-5 (57 points), while Fort Wayne improved to 36-18-1-2 (75 points). The PrairieThunder returns to action Friday with a 6:30 p.m. game at Port Huron.
Konstantin Shafranov scored the first goal four minutes into the game off assists by Colin Chaulk and Matt Syroczynski. O'Connor then added the next two goals at the 12:48 and 9:32 marks of the first period. Mitch Woods, Kaleigh Schrock and Syroczynski had assists.
The Komets received goals from Chaulk and Jason Chwedorvk in the second and third periods, respectively. Bobby Phillips, Frankie DeAngelis, Shafranov and Schrock had assists.
Kevin Armstrong took the loss in goal for Bloomington while stopping 36 of 41 shots.
Bloomington was without leading scorers Jon Booras and Craig Macdonald. Booras is injured and Macdonald was gone after the 10-minute mark of the first period when he was handed a game misconduct penalty.
