
El Paso Native, Diablos Player Sold To Los Angeles Dodgers

DURHAM, NC - The American Association of Independent Professional Baseball announced today that the contract of El Paso Diablos RHP Rick Rivas has been sold to the Los Angeles Dodgers. This is the second player purchased by the Dodgers since the end of the 2009 season (Will Savage - Wichita Wingnuts).
A graduate of Hanks High School, he was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 48th round (1425th overall) during the 2004 amateur entry draft. Rivas played at El Paso Community College in 2003-2004 and then with Oklahoma State University in 2005-2006. In 23 appearances, Rivas had a 2-1 record with an earned run average of 4.82. The El Paso native struck out 23 and walked 14 in 37 1/3 innings pitched.
The Diablos open their season with a four day home stand against the Sioux City Explorers on Thursday, May 14. Season ticket packages are currently on sale at the Diablos Box Office. For more information please call Adriana Ruiz at 915-755-2000.
