Camden Riversharks News Release

CAMDEN, NJ - The Camden Riversharks announced four more additions to their 2010 roster today. The team has agreed to terms with Kyle Haines, Gabriel Alfaro, Raul Padron, and Brad Knox. Haines was a part of the team's opening day roster in 2009, while Alfaro, Padron, and Knox are all fresh faces in Camden.

Haines started the 2009 season as a shortstop with the Riversharks. After compiling a.253 batting average and playing solid defense in 26 games for the 'Sharks, he was acquired by the Cleveland Indians organization. With the Indians, Haines was designated for assignment with the AA Akron Aeros of the Eastern League, as well as the class A Kinston Indians of the Carolina League.

"We're glad to have Kyle back again this year," said Riversharks Manager, Von Hayes. "He was off to a great start with the Riversharks last season, and we are expecting him to be one of the leaders of our infield this season," he added.

Gabriel Alfaro joins the Camden roster as a right-handed relief pitcher, who most recently played for the Auburn Doubledays of the New York - Penn League. In two seasons with the Doubledays, he appeared in 24 games and amassed a 5.45 earned run average, working out of the bullpen.

Originally a 14th round draft pick of the Oakland Athletics in 2002, right handed pitcher Brad Knox will bring a considerable amount of playing experience with him to the Riversharks this season. Knox has spent the past eight seasons in the minor league circuit, and boasts a 4.07 career ERA, with an overall record of 68-43. Most recently, he pitched for the Salt Lake Bees of the Pacific Coast League during the 2009 season. With the Bees, Knox started 25 games, and pitched his way to a 9-8 record with a 5.20 ERA. He struck out 70 batters last season, while allowing only 51 walks.

"I'm feeling more comfortable with our pitching situation, now that Gabriel and Brad are aboard," said Riversharks pitching coach, Jeff Scott. "We have high hopes for Brad and expect him to battle for a spot in our starting rotation, and Gabriel gives us a very solid and very live arm out of the bullpen, which you can never have enough of," he added.

Raul Padron, a Venezuela native, will make his first appearance with the Riversharks in 2010. Most recently, Padron played with the AAA Sacramento River Cats of the Pacific Coast League, as well as the AA Midland RockHounds of the Texas league during the 2009 season. As a member of the Riversharks, Padron will primarily play first base, but could also be used as the team's situational catcher.

"With the addition of Raul, you can see our infield starting to come together," said Hayes. "I feel comfortable with him at first base, but also really like the fact that we can put him behind the plate and have him call the signals, if needed."

The Riversharks open their 10th Anniversary Season, presented by Wawa on Thursday, April 22nd, on the road against the Newark Bears. The team will play their home opener at Campbell's Field against the Bears on April 30th, 2010, at 7:05 PM. Individual and group tickets are now on sale, and can be purchased online at http://www.riversharks.com/ www.riversharks.com or by calling 1-866-SHARKS-9.
