
Rio Grande Valley's Will Conroy Named Performer Of The Week

NEW YORK, March 1, 2010 - Rio Grande Valley Vipers point guard Will Conroy was today named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played during the Week of Feb. 22. The award is the first for Conroy this season, and the fifth of this NBA D-League Career. Conroy's five Performer of the Week honors is an NBA D-League record.
Conroy led the Vipers to a 2-0 record last week, including victories over the Springfield Armor and Tulsa 66ers. During the week, Conroy recorded his third triple-double of the season, when he scored 31 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the floor, pulled down 14 rebounds and dished out 12 assists in the Vipers 136-128 overtime victory over Springfield. Against Bakersfield, Conroy finished with 22 points and a season-high 17 assists, marking his fifth double-double of the season. For the week, Conroy averaged 26.5 points, 14.5 assists and 9.0 rebounds.
Conroy, who earned his fourth career GATORADE Call-Up to the Houston Rockets on Jan. 28, before returning to RGV on Feb. 8, is averaging 15.5 points, 9.9 assists (second in the NBA D-League) and 6.7 rebounds in 18 games, 16 starts, for Rio Grande Valley this season.
Other top performers last week included Iowa's Earl Barron, who averaged 23.3 points and 12.0 rebounds in three games for the Energy; Bakersfields' Brian Butch, who averaged 27.3 points and 18.3 rebounds in three games for the Jam; Erie's Darnell Jackson, who scored 34 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in one game on assignment from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the BayHawks; Sioux Falls' Alexander Johnson, who averaged 20.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in two games for the Skyforce; Austin's Dwayne Jones, who averaged 23.5 points and 18.5 rebounds in two games for the Toros; Tulsa's Larry Owens, who averaged 18.3 points, 10.7 rebounds and 7.3 assists in three games for the 66ers; Tulsa's Mustafa Shakur, who averaged 24.3 points and 7.7 assists in three games for the 66ers; and Sioux Falls' Reggie Williams, who scored 34 points and grabbed six rebounds in one game for the Skyforce.
