Reno Aces News Release
HIDALGO, Texas-Despite yet another double-double for Rod Benson, a dominant second-half surge for Rio Grande Valley lifted the Vipers to a 109-76 victory over the Reno Bighorns Saturday night in State Farm Arena.
Although Rio Grande Valley (22-8) led by four after one quarter, it was Reno (11-16) who would go to the locker room with a one-point lead. The second half was a different story, though. The Vipers outscored Reno 65-31 in the second half of play to coast to the victory. Reno was limited to just 13 points in the final frame, while Rio Grande Valley ran-up 36 points in the quarter.
Benson finished with 15 points, 12 boards and four steals for the Bighorns. Will Blalock was Reno's top scorer, recording 17 points. Desmon Farmer was the only other Bighorn to finish in double figures, registering 13 points.
A balanced scoring effort for the Vipers was paced by a 24-point night by Craig Winder. Julian Sensley kicked-in 22, and Mike Harris scored 20 in the winning effort.
Rio Grande Valley outrebounded Reno 33-25 and forced 30 Bighorn turnovers.
