
MacDonald Earns Honor

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - For the third time this season, Craig Macdonald of the Bloomington PrairieThunder has been named the Player of the Week by the International Hockey League, it was announced Monday.
The 27-year-old Macdonald scored one goal and had five assists for six points during a four-game week that saw the PrairieThunder split the decisions and maintain its hold on fourth place in the standings. The PrairieThunder has a 19-17-2-4 record and 44 points ahead of Wednesday's 7:05 p.m. game against Flint at U.S. Cellular Coliseum
Macdonald also had a plus 1 rating and no penalty minutes. He had a part in six of the team's 10 goals scored. The Milton, Ontario native ranks second on the PrairieThunder, behind Jon Booras, in scoring with 48 points on a team-leading 22 goals and 26 assists in 42 games.
He is second in the league in goals scored and fifth in scoring. He also leads the team with five-game winning goals and has a plus 8 rating with seven power play goals and eight power play assists.
Macdonald had a string of nine games with at least one point snapped in Sunday's 3-0 loss to Quad City. During that stretch, he had five goals and nine assists for 14 points.
The IHL honor marks the sixth time a PrairieThunder player has been recognized this season. Besides Macdonald, former goaltender Paulo Colaiacovo, current goaltender Andrew Martin and center Jon Booras earned the league's top weekly honor.
