Calgary Stampeders News Release

Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that free-agent non-import offensive lineman John Comiskey has signed a contract with the club. This is the second stint in Calgary for Comiskey, who previously played for the Stamps from 2005 to 2007. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

"I am thrilled to have come to terms with John," said Hufnagel. "A player of his experience and stature will add depth and veteran leadership to our football team."

Comiskey, a 29-year-old product of Prince Albert, Sask., was originally drafted by the Stampeders in the third round (19th overall) of the 2005 CFL draft and spent three seasons with the Stamps. He was traded to Edmonton in 2008 and spent the past two seasons with the Eskimos.

"I'm thrilled to be back in Calgary where everything started for me back in 2005," said Comiskey. "I'm really looking forward to a great 2010 campaign and am excited for the opportunity to reconnect with former teammates as well as the nucleus that has been put together since I've been gone. There is a great coaching staff here and I can't wait to get started."

Comiskey dressed for 30 games over two seasons for the Eskimos and was Edmonton's nominee for the CFL's Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman award in 2008. He was released by Edmonton in December.
