
Snakes Snap Skid, Pick Up Three Points On Week

COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Columbus Cottonmouths saw their season-high four game losing streak broken on Thursday night with a 2-1 victory at the Snake Pit over Fayetteville. On Saturday night, the Cottonmouths picked up a point for the regulation tie but could not get the second point for the win as the Pensacola Ice Flyers defeated Columbus 5-4 in the extra session. This weekend, the Cottonmouths hit the road for a pair of games in Pensacola and Biloxi to take on the Ice Flyers on Friday night and the Mississippi Surge on Saturday night. Both games will be broadcast on B2 Networks with both a video and audio feed, with a nominal fee for each game. A free audio-only webcast of the games is also available. Columbus travels to Pensacola, Fla. to face the hometown Ice Flyers on Friday night. One of the Cottonmouths' two road victories on the season have come against the Ice Flyers in a 7-4 victory on November 7. The Snakes have dropped the last two decisions in Pensacola, one a 5-4 decision in overtime on December 19 and a 6-1 loss on January 2.
Saturday, January 30 - Columbus at Mississippi, 8:05 PM EST (Season Series vs. MIS: 2-2-0)
Columbus travels further west on I-10 Saturday to take on the Mississippi Surge in Biloxi. The teams have played four games against each other, twice in each team's home building, with the home team winning every game.

Thursday, January 21 - Fayetteville 1 at Columbus 2 (Attendance: 1,780)
The Columbus Cottonmouths snapped their four-game losing skid on Thursday night with a spirited 2-1 victory over the Fayetteville FireAntz at the Snake Pit. The win comes despite allowing Fayetteville a season-high 55 shots on goal. Levi Lind lit the lamp for the Snakes, and Sam Bowles notched the game-winner on the power play in the second period. Kyle Lundale was the high point man for Columbus, assisting on both goals. Ian Vigier turned in arguably his best performance of the year with a 54 save effort between the pipes for the Cotonmouths, while his counterpart in net for Fayetteville, Guy St. Vincent, made 29 saves on 31 shots on goal. The Snakes were 1 for 5 on the power play while holding the FireAntz scoreless in their seven chances with the man advantage.
Saturday, January 23 - Pensacola 5 at Columbus 4 (OT) (Attendance: 3,145)
The Snakes dropped a 5-4 overtime decision in the Snake Pit against Pensacola on Saturday night. Sam Bowles, Kyle Lundale, Dan Leslie, and Tom McMonagle scored the goals in regulation for the Snakes. Ian Vigier took the regulation tie in net for Columbus with 38 saves on 43 shots on goal, while Jamie Gilbert took the win between the pipes for Pensacola with a 28-save effort on 32 shots. Columbus was 1 for 6 on the power play while the Ice Flyers were 2 for 5 with the man advantage.
THREE STARS OF THE WEEK
1. D Kyle Lundale - Lundale assisted on both goals Thursday night and scored a goal Saturday.
2. F Sam Bowles - Bowles had a pair of goals, scoring a goal in each contest.
3. G Ian Vigier - Vigier stopped a season-high 54 of 55 shots on Thursday night and had a total of 92 saves on 98 shots over the week.
