THE SKINNY:

There hardly could be a more critical home game at this juncture than Saturday's. After dropping three straight games, the Wave need to recover. A win over Baltimore would give the Wave a 3-0 season advantage over the Blast and would clinch the tiebreaker, with only one head-to-head remaining. Plus, a brutal travel schedule that takes them to Monterrey on little or no sleep makes a win Sunday extremely difficult. Restarts and finishing are the areas of attention for Milwaukee.

Baltimore has lost three of four games, but every one has been close. Milwaukee got the Blast 12-10 in overtime on New Year's Eve and 11-9 in Baltimore 10 days later. Then Monterrey rallied at home for a 7-6 win. Without rangy forward Machel Millwood (ankle), the Blast haven't cracked 10 points in the last two games. He will be listed as doubtful for Saturday.

Monterrey climbed even with Milwaukee in the standings last weekend; the Wave remain third on point differential. Genoni Martinez leads the league in blocks (15) and is second in points (26). La Raza is a true bombs-away team with Martinez and Chile Farias (26 points). They lead the MISL with 12 3-point goals; half have come against the Wave. Each team has won two games on the other team's home field in this series this season.

WAVE MILESTONE WATCH:

Brett Wiesner: 100 games played (99)

Giuliano Oliviero: 1,000 career points (991)

Troy Dusosky: 500 career blocks (480)

UPCOMING WAVE SCHEDULE:

Saturday, Jan. 30: @ Baltimore Blast, 6:35 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 6: @ Philadelphia KiXX, 6 p.m.
