
Young Wins Holiday Card Contest

Wilmington Blue Rocks News Release
Wilmington, DE - The Wilmington Blue Rocks are excited to announce the winner of the Ninth Annual Holiday Card Contest. After careful consideration to the more than 2,000 entries, one card rose to the top of the pile. Rocky Bluewinkle, Mr. Celery, Rubble, Blue Rocks office manager Elizabeth Kolodziej and the rest of the Holiday Card Contest Committee have declared Brittany Young the grand prize winner. Young, a fifth grader from Villa Maria Academy in Immaculata, PA, will have her artwork featured on the cover of the Wilmington Blue Rocks holiday card. Brittany will be rewarded with a team-autographed baseball and 10 tickets to a 2010 Blue Rocks home game.
The Blue Rocks also elected a winner from each grade level whose artwork will be displayed on the back of the Holiday Card. Those winners are:

The Wilmington Blue Rocks would like to thank all those who entered. Entries were received from students in Kindergarten through fifth grade from Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey. Each entrant will be rewarded with two tickets to a Blue Rocks game in 2009. Third-grade victor Samuel Wilson takes grade-level honors for a second straight year after claiming the second-grade crown in 2008. The Blue Rocks wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season!
The Blue Rocks will open play in 2010 on April 8 in Myrtle Beach, SC against the Pelicans (Atlanta Braves). The home opener comes on April 16 with the first of a record 15 fireworks shows at Frawley Stadium this season as the Blue Crew hosts the Potomac Nationals (Washington Nationals). Every Friday in 2010 will have post-game fireworks at Frawley.
