Stampede Announce Captains For December & January

Sioux Falls, SD--The Sioux Falls Stampede are proud to announce their captains for December and January. The Stampede are continuing a tradition of rotating their captains throughout the season.

Chad Ruhwedel will continue to serve as captain while Sam Coatta and Mike Voran will serve as "Assistant Captains."

Ruhwedel is the Herd's top scoring defenseman with eight points (2g, 6a) and a plus-10 rating in 17 games. The San Diego, CA native is in his second season with the Herd and recorded his first career USHL goal on October 16th in a 9-1 win over Waterloo. Ruhwedel has already committed to UMass-Lowell for the 2010-11 season.

Coatta is in his first season with the Herd and has 10 points (5g, 5a) in 16 games. He is also a plus-3 during that time and has one game-winning goal. The Minnetonka, MN native spent last year with Minnetonka High School where he recorded 49 points (26g, 23a) in 28 games.

Voran is also in his first season with the Stampede and is currently tied for the team lead in points with 18 (7g, 11a) and is a team best plus-11 in 17 games. The Livonia, MI native led the Wenatchee Wild (NAHL) in scoring last season with 56 points (24g, 32a) in 55 games.

Stampede coaches and current captain's work together to select the new captains. The Herd choose their captains based on their hard work and leadership skills on and off the ice.

The Stampede return to action tomorrow night (Thursday) when they host the Indiana Ice at 7:05 PM. It is also $1 beer night! Thanks to SMG/The Sioux Falls Arena, taps of Bud Light, Coors Light and Miller Light will be just $1 all night long! Tickets for tomorrow's game are still available and can be purchased at the Sioux Falls Arena Box Office or any Ticketmaster location.
