FORT WAYNE, Indiana, November 29, 2009 -
The Fort Wayne Mad Ants (1-1) outlasted the Erie BayHawks (1-1) 93-82, splitting the weekend series at Memorial Coliseum.
The Mad Ants rallied from eight down at the end of the 1st quarter to tie the game up at 40 by halftime.
The two teams battled back and forth throughout the first and second quarters with five lead changes.
Kyle McAlarney led the Mad Ants to a team high 14 points in the first half and Rob Kurz topped out with 11 first half rebounds with two assists.
The Mad Ants took control in the 2nd half and shot a game total 40.8% (31-76) from the field and 45% (9-20) from beyond the arc.
The BayHawks had four players in double figures.
Donell Taylor recorded a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Center John Bryant also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Ron Howard led all Mad Ants scorers with 25 total points. Kyle McAlarney knocked down 22 with four 3-pointers and Robert Kurz added 16 along with his 19 rebounds.
The Mad Ants return to action against the Iowa Energy on December 3rd at 8:00pm in Iowa.
