Calgary Stampeders News Release
The Calgary Stampeders and Edmonton Eskimos will battle in the Canadian Football League's Western Semi-Final on Sunday, Nov. 15 at McMahon Stadium. Opening kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
This is the 10th time the provincial rivals are meeting in a West Division semifinal, with Edmonton currently holding a 5-4 advantage. This is the first post-season meeting between Calgary and Edmonton since 2005, when Calgary was defeated 33-26 at McMahon.
Calgary claimed the 2009 season series against Edmonton by winning three of the four meetings. The Stamps lost 38-35 in Edmonton on Aug. 13 but won the next three games - 32-8 in Calgary on Sept. 7, 35-34 in Edmonton on Sept. 11 and 30-7 in Calgary on Oct. 23.
At halftime, the Stampeders will honour three Calgary high school football players - Jesse Hiebert from Lord Beaverbrook, Jeffrey Vela from Crescent Heights and Benjamin Bullock from Bishop Carroll - with the inaugural Stan Schwartz Heart of a Champion Awards in a special on-field presentation.
