
D-Fenders Take Deron Washington in First Round of Draft

El Segundo, CA- The Los Angeles D-Fenders selected Deron Washington with the 3rd overall pick in the 2009 NBA Development League Draft, it was announced today.
Washington, a 6-7 small forward out of VirginiaTech was drafted in the second round (59th overall) by the Detroit Pistons in the 2008 NBA Draft. Washington played for the Hapoel Holon in Israel where he won an Israeli Cup in 2009. He participated in the 2009 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas with the Detroit Pistons.
"We were very excited to have the 3rd pick this year. Deron Washington was an excellent selection and I think that he will be a great contributor to the D-Fenders this season," said D-Fenders Head Coach, Chucky Brown. "I am thrilled with the players that we picked up and very excited because I think that we will have a great team this year."
The 2009 D-Fenders draft class will join the nine D-Fenders training camp invitees. The training camp invitees include returning, allocation, and local tryout players. The four returning players are, Earl Barron, Joe Crawford, Ryan Forehan-Kelly and Longar Longar. The two allocation players are Gabe Pruitt and Diamon Simpson, and the three local tryout players are Michael Fey, James Jackson and Horace Wormely.

The D-Fenders tip of their fourth season on November 28th as they take on the Albuquerque Thunderbirds at 6pm at the Tingley Coliseum. The D-Fenders will host their first home game on December 1st versus the Utah Flash at 3:30pm at the Staples Center.
