Omaha Lancers News Release
Dakota Eveland tallied 2 goals and 2 assists while Matt White and Ryan Daugherty registered 3 points apiece as the Omaha Lancers dropped the Indiana Ice 6-0 Sunday evening at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. With the win, the Lancers improved their overall record to 11-1 while extending their current winning streak to eight consecutive games. Omaha remains atop both the West Division and USHL standings with 22 standings points.
The scoring started just 13 seconds into the game when Eveland was the recipient of two beautiful breakout passes from Daugherty and CJ Ludwig in slipping home his 5th goal of the season. Omaha doubled its lead less than five minutes later when Danny Mattson cashed in on a net-mouth scramble in chipping in his 3rd goal of the season. Colin Markison and Anthony Hamburg earned the two assists on the even strength tally netted 4:57 into the opening period.
The Lancers potted the only goal of the second period when defenseman Mike Chiasson pinched in from the point and wristed home his 1st goal of the season. White and Tyler Lapic grabbed the helpers as Omaha took a 3-0 lead into the dressing room after two periods.
The Lancers then put the contest to bed with a trio of third period goals. First, Daugherty jammed home a loose rebound in the crease 4:22 into the final period for his 4th goal of the season. Then, White redirected Daugherty's right wing shot for his 6th marker of the year. Finally, Eveland threw a cross-crease pass off an Indiana leg and into the Ice cage in the game's final minute putting Omaha on top for good.
Lost amidst all the offense was Jeff Teglia's first career USHL shutout after he turned aside all 23 Indiana shots he faced. The 2nd year Lancers goaltender continues to lead all USHL netminders with 8 wins.
The Lancers are back in action this Wednesday evening when they head to Tri-City to take on the Storm.
