Thunderbirds To Hold Draft Party At Spectators Sports Bar And Grill

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., October 29, 2009 - The Albuquerque Thunderbirds will hold their 2009 NBA Development League Draft party at Spectators Sports Bar and Grill, located at 5850 Eubank Blvd. NE on Thursday, Nov. 5 starting at 4:30 pm. The ninth-annual draft will air live on NBA TV and be streamed online beginning at 5 p.m. MT.
Thunderbirds coaches, owners, front office staff, Storm Chasers and Trey will be in attendance and the team will be giving away great prizes and offering ticket specials to those in attendance. The Thunderbirds will have the first overall draft pick in a serpentine selection process.
"Nothing can be more exciting than the renaissance of a new team," said Thunderbirds head coach John Coffino. "Having the number one pick will assure us that we'll have an NBA caliber player in addition to our returning and allocated players. I anticipate that we will field the most hardworking and unselfish team in the league this year."
The Thunderbirds Draft Party is open to fans of all ages and will run from 4:30 - 9:00 pm. Fans are encouraged to wear their team colors and arrive early to show their support for the team and the city of Albuquerque when Coach Coffino selects the first overall pick, which will take place at 5:00 pm.
NBA TV will be televising clips from the party, and the team's top fans will have a chance to be seen on national television. Spectators Sports Bar and Grill will also be the location for the Thunderbirds radio coach's show, which will air bi-monthly throughout the upcoming season.
In addition to the 1st overall pick, the Thunderbirds will also select 32nd, 33rd, 64th, 65th, 96th, 97th and 128th in the 2009 draft.
