Mad Ants Announce Partnership With YMCA

October 29, 2009 - NBA Development League (D-League) Fort Wayne Mad Ants

Fort Wayne, IN (October 29, 2009)- The Fort Wayne Mad Ants and the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne announced today that they will partner to make the YMCA's local basketball programs the official Youth Basketball Program of the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. The Mad Ants and the YMCA will work together to bring an exciting youth basketball program to all boys and girls in the Fort Wayne area.

The YMCA winter basketball program emphasizes player development through practice and games in a 9-week league. Players will learn the fundamentals of basketball through equal playing time and teamwork. The season runs January 9 through March 6 and is offered to all boys and girls ages Pre-K to 8th grade. Registration for this season is underway and will end December 17.

"We are excited to be a part of the YMCA and their phenomenal youth basketball program," said Mad Ants President Jeff Potter. "Children throughout Fort Wayne have been learning lessons about how to be better players and better people through the YMCA's youth basketball program, and we hope to enhance the program by providing our young players as positive role models for all the kids who participate."

"Youth sports are a wonderful way to teach children about character development, teamwork and discipline; while getting exercise in a fun way," said YMCA's President and CEO Martin Pastura.

All kids that sign up will receive a t-shirt, a ticket to a Mad Ants home game, and admission to a clinic led by the Mad Ants players and coaches.

To sign your son or daughter up for the program, please call the YMCA at (260) 422-6488 or visit www.fwymca.org.
