Ruhwedel Named Defensive Player Of The Week

The United States Hockey League (USHL) announced Monday that Sioux Falls Stampede defenseman Chad Ruhwedel (Roo-weed-uhl) has been named CCM Defensive Player-of-the-Week.

Ruhwedel registered three points (1g, 2a) and a plus-2 rating in two games last weekend. The Stampede captain tallied his first career USHL goal and assisted on two others in a 9-1 win over Waterloo on Friday. Ruhwedel has four points (1g, 3a) in six games and is tied for the league lead with a plus/minus rating of plus-7.

The San Diego, CA native is currently in his second year with the Stampede. He posted 11 assists and was a plus-12 last season with the Herd.

Ruhwedel and the Herd are off to a 4-0-2 record, unbeaten in regulation and atop the West Division. The Herd return to action this Saturday when they host the Chicago Steel at 7:05 PM.
