Wolf Pack Top Providence Bruins 3-2

Providence, RI, October 11, 2009 - The Hartford Wolf Pack evened their season record at 2-2-0 with their second straight win, and their first road triumph, Sunday, as they defeated the Providence Bruins 3-2 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence.
It was the second trip to Providence in three days for the Wolf Pack, and avenged a 5-3 loss to the Bruins Friday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
Defenseman Ilkka Heikkinen scored his first North American pro goal, and added an assist, to lead the Wolf Pack, and Dale Weise scored the eventual game-winning goal on a second-period penalty shot. Zach Hamill had two assists for Providence.
Drew Fata opened the scoring for Providence only 3:45 into the game, with a power-play goal. Vladimir Sobotka found Fata with a pass six feet inside the blueline and Fata pounded a slapshot past Wolf Pack goaltender Chad Johnson.
The Wolf Pack got on the scoreboard at 12:31, with Heikkinen scoring from the right point. Patrick Rissmiller sent a pass from the left circle to Heikkinen, and Heikkinen's shot beat the Bruins' Matt Dalton to the glove side.
The Hartford special teams made an impact in the second period, helping the Wolf Pack build a 3-1 lead.
P.A. Parenteau, whose hat trick led the Pack to its first win of the season on Saturday against Springfield, tallied his fourth goal of the year on a five-on-three power play at 7:32. Parenteau tried to center the puck from the left-wing side of the crease but had the pass blocked, before he recovered the loose puck and jammed it past Dalton.
Weise then scored Hartford's second shorthanded penalty-shot goal in two games at 10:31. Weise was dragged down on a breakaway, and converted on the resulting penalty shot by putting a shot between Dalton's legs. Parenteau had scored a shorthanded penalty-shot goal in Saturday's first period. That marked the first time the Wolf Pack had ever had penalty shots in back-to-back games.
The only goal of the third period was a power-play marker by Providence's Brad Marchand with 1:05 left. Marchand banged in a cross-slot feed from Jamie Arniel from the right side of the slot.
Johnson made 22 saves to get his second straight win. Dalton, in his first pro game, stopped 28 shots in the Bruin net.
