Pensacola Pelicans News Release

The Pensacola Pelicans are pleased to announce that on Tuesday, Oct. 6 and Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, the ten owners and ownership groups of the American Association teams will once again be assembled in Pensacola for their annual meetings. This will be the third time the meetings have been held in Pensacola in the league's four-year history. Last year, the meetings were held in Wichita, KS., home of the Wichita Wingnuts.

Attendees include American Association President Dan Moushon and Commissioner Miles Wolff, who for 18 years was president and publisher of Baseball America, the trade publication of professional baseball. Wolff was ranked #8 on the ESPN Top 10 Best Owners List and was selected as the 79th most important person in baseball history in the eighth edition of Total Baseball: The Ultimate Baseball Encyclopedia.

Other guests include owners Mike Veeck and Marv Goldklang of the Goldklang Group which owns and operates the St. Paul Saints, Charleston RiverDogs, Hudson Valley Renegades, and the Ft. Myers Miracle. Veeck is the son of Bill Veeck who is a Hall of Fame owner with the St. Louis Browns, Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox and Milwaukee Brewers. Mike Veeck has authored the book "Fun is Good" and holds an annual "Fun is Good" Conference for sports and other business executives.

Marv Goldklang, part-owner of the New York Yankees, has served as the Saints' Chairman of the Board since the team's inception in 1992. Baseball America has identified Goldklang as among the most influential people in the industry.

The meetings will be held at the Springhill Suites on Pensacola Beach over the two-day period. Topics of discussion will include a recap of the 2009 season, the 2010 schedule, roster rules, 2010 all-star game, and any rule or procedure changes or additions.

On Tuesday evening, the group will tour Pensacola Bay including the view from the water of the location of the Community Maritime Park, future home of the Pelicans and many other community events. They will then dock at the community favorite and Pelicans sponsor Fish House for dinner.

2010 season ticket packages area now available starting at only $160. Other gift packages begin at $54. Fans can call the Pelicans office at 850-934-8444 for more information or to reserve their seats.
