Springfield Armor To Host Dance Team Auditions On Saturday, September 19th

SPRINGFIELD, MA September 15, 2009 - The Springfield Armor will host dance team auditions this Saturday, September 19th at the MassMutual Center, which is located at 1277 Main Street in Springfield. Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m.
The one-day auditions for the dance team, known as the Armorettes, will be conducted from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and all participants must be at least 18 years of age. There will be a non-refundable registration fee of $25, which will be collected during the one-hour registration period. Interested parties are encouraged to preregister, and forms can be retrieved at the Springfield Armor's office located at One Monarch Place, Suite 220 in Springfield or by visiting www.armorhoops.com.
The auditions will be conducted by Armorettes Director and Choreographer Amy Ruelle Leigner and Assistant Director Kara Gagne, and there will be a panel of six judges present. A water station will be provided for the dancers and a photographer will be on site. Names of the tryout participants chosen to be members of the dance team will be posted on the Armor Web site no later than the morning of Sunday, September 20th.
The official dance team of the Armor, the Armorettes will perform at all 24 home games beginning with the season opener against the Iowa Energy on November 27th. Members of the Armorettes also will represent the Armor in numerous community events and other appearances.
"We are looking to build a dance team comprised of performers who not only are talented and can entertain fans on the court, but also individuals who will further the positive community presence the Armor has built over the last few months," Ruelle Leigner said.
