Rats Sign Goaltender Mike Morrison

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that the American Hockey League club has signed veteran goaltender Mike Morrison to a one year, two-way AHL/ECHL contract.

Originally selected in the seventh round (186th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers, Morrison turned pro in 2002 after completing a four-year collegiate career at the University of Maine. The Medford, MA native appeared in 29 National Hockey League contests from 2005-2007 with Ottawa, Phoenix and Edmonton. His most prolific NHL stint came in 2005-06, when Morrison appeared in 21 contests with the Oilers and posted a 10-4-2 record with a 2.83 goals against average and a .884 save percentage. In 29 NHL starts, the 30 year-old has compiled an 11-7-3 record with a 4.14 goals against average and .850 save percentage.

Morrison split last season between the Austrian Hockey League's Ljubljana Olimpija HK (24 games) and the Swedish Elite League's Modo Hockey Ornskoldsvik.(13 games).
