Lafayette, LA. August 5, 2009. Lafayette, Louisiana. Today the Louisiana IceGators announced the signing of a former second round draft pick for the Philadelphia Flyers, defenseman Shane Kenny. Shane was the 48th overall pick in the 1995 draft.
"A player of Shane's caliber does not come along very often at this level. Obviously he will be a huge addition to our defensive corp. Shane is the type of talent that can teach our younger de- fenseman the intricate points of being efficient at both ends of the ice. For a player of this size, he has tremendous skill which will be an enormous asset to our power play," says head coach Ron Handy.
The addition of Shane Kenny brings the IceGators' total number of players signed to three. Daryl Moore and Jason Hamilton were signed earlier this summer. The IceGators have confirmed 45 players signed for the Open Camp tryouts in October and 17 players are committed for the main training camp beginning on October 12th.
