Memphis Redbirds News Release

MEMPHIS, TN - After a nearly 90-minute rain delay Round Rock jumped on Memphis early and rolled to a 3-1 win over the Redbirds Wednesday night at AutoZone Park.

Mark Saccomanno's two-run homer in the first inning put the Express on top. Tyler Greene cut the lead to one with a solo shot in the bottom of the first, his 10th round tripper of the year. Greene has now homered in three straight games for the Redbirds. Jason Smith's RBI-single in the third inning gave the Express a two-run advantage and Round Rock's pitching did the rest with starter Jose Capellan turning in six solid innings. The right-hander allowed one run on three hits to pick up the win. Three Express relievers combined for three perfect innings with Casey Daigle earning his fifth save of the year.

One night after posting 20 hits and hitting a franchise record seven home runs the Redbirds equaled a season-low with three hits Wednesday night. Memphis starter Adam Ottavino lost his 10th game of the year allowing three runs on nine hits across five innings.

The ‘Birds send P.J. Walters to the hill tomorrow night to face Round Rock's Yorman Bazardo. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. For ticket information visit memphisredbirds.com or call 901.721.6000.
