Amarillo Gorillas News Release

Amarillo, TX 7/21/09 - The Amarillo Gorillas have secured goaltender Keith Longo for the 2009-2010 season, the team announced Tuesday.

Longo, 24 (06/19/85), joins Amarillo from Hobart College, where he holds every school goaltending season and career record. His .930 career save percentage is tops all-time in NCAA Division III, while ranking in the top 25 in Division III history in career shutouts (4th with 8), career goals against average (9th at 2.30), career saves (14th) and career wins (22nd, 51). Longo was the only Division III representative to compete in the 2009 NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge in Washington, D.C.

"Keith comes to us from an outstanding program at Hobart. He was a key contributor to their success", commented Gorillas Head Coach Brian Pellerin. "I fully expect Keith to continue his development and compete for the starting position on our club this season."

The Milford, Massachusetts (located 40 miles West of Boston, MA) native will begin his first season of professional hockey in Amarillo. Longo has been named team MVP for the last two seasons, as well as the Francis "Babe" Kraus award for Athlete of the Year at Hobart in 2009.

"It's important to acquire talented players with outstanding character," remarked Gorillas General Manager Robert Simmons. "I believe Keith fills both categories."

Longo graduated from Hobart College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in theater. Longo also made the Dean's list two of the three years while at Hobart College.

Longo joins fellow goaltender Tuomas Lohtander, defensemen Neil Smith and James Jernberg along with forwards David Nimmo, Austin Sutter, Gordon Bell, Joe Guenther, and Patrick Connelly for the 2009-2010 season.
