Autism Awareness Night Rescheduled for July 23rd
July 10, 2009 - Midwest League (MWL1) - Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
The Quad Cities River Bandits announced on Friday that the festivities surrounding Autism Awareness Night have been rescheduled for July 23.
The promotion was originally set to take place on June 27, but heavy rains and wind forced that contest to be postponed shortly before game time. As a result, the River Bandits will wear the special edition Autism Awareness jerseys during the 7:00 p.m. game on Thursday, July 23. The jerseys will be made available to fans through an in-game silent auction on the concourse, with the proceeds benefiting the Vera French Foundation.
The game will also feature a giveaway of the remaining Hillary Clinton bobblehead dolls, featuring the Secretary of State wearing one of the special edition Autism Awareness River Bandits jerseys. More than 1,000 bobbleheads bearing the likeness of the Secretary of State have already been given away. There are approximately 1,000 bobbleheads remaining from the originally scheduled event and they will be given to fans until they are gone, starting when the gates open at 5:30 p.m. The jersey auction and bobblehead giveaway will complement a pair of promotions already slated for July 23. It will also be Tattoo Night, with a free season ticket in 2010 for anybody that gets a River Bandits tattoo, and a Thirst-day Thursday with $2 drink specials.
UP NEXT: The River Bandits continue a six-game homestand with a Fireworks Friday and an appearance from Chicago Bears great and Hall of Famer Gale Sayers. A bobblehead doll featuring Steve Dillard, Quad Cities' all-time winningest manager, will be handed out on Saturday courtesy of Mel Foster agent Keith A. Allborty, and the Rockin' Saturday also includes a post-game concert by Elvis Himselvis on Elvis Night! Fans arriving early to Sunday's game will receive the 2009 River Bandits Team Poster thanks to Swiss Valley Farms on another Tailz Er Waggin' Dog Day of Summer, also a U.S. Bank Family Sunday. Lastly, the homestand concludes with a special 1:00 p.m. start time on Monday, a Summer Camp Day and Harry Potter Day!
ABOUT THE BANDITS: The Quad Cities River Bandits drew more than 103,000 fans in the first half of the season for only the third time in team history. Ticket sales, concessions, merchandise sales, sponsorships and even Kids' Zone revenues are all up over last season, which was one of the team's best in history! Banditwear, mini-plans, and individual game tickets are on sale for the 2009 season by calling (563) 3-BANDIT or heading to www.RiverBandits.com. But hurry - good seats are going fast!
