Mobile BayBears News Release

MOBILE, Ala. - After falling behind 6-5 in the eighth inning, the BayBears pushed home a pair in the bottom of the ninth on Ricardo Sosa's bases-loaded single as they defeated the Chattanooga Lookouts 7-6 on Monday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Matt Sartor (1-3) hadn't blown a save all season and coasted through the eighth without any issues but surrendered a lead-off single to Bryan Byrne in the ninth. Sean Coughlin followed with a walk while Cyle Hankerd reached on a single as Sartor dove for a popped up bunt but missed it. That set up Sosa who dribbled an 0-2 pitch down the third base line for the walk-off knock.

Chattanooga (37-47, 7-8) reclaimed the lead in the eighth after falling behind early in the contest. Jordan Norberto walked the first man he faced in his Double-A debut while Andrew Lambo picked up a one-out single. Russ Mitchell hit a liner to center that Evan Frey mishandled which brought Bell home. Three batters later, Eddy Perez came off the bench and singled off Daniel Stange to put the Lookouts on top.

Barry Enright started for the BayBears (46-39, 9-6) and posted seven solid innings of three-run, seven-hit ball. All three runs allowed by Enright came in the first thanks to an RBI double by Ramon Nivar and a pair of sac flies.

The BayBears responded in the bottom of the first against James Adkins with Hankerd's sac fly putting the BayBears on the board. Sosa doubled home two runs with two outs to tie the game. In the third, Byrne came home on an error by Joseph Becker. Coughlin scored on a groundout by Mark Hallberg.

Reid Mahon (5-1) walked the lead-off batter in the ninth inning but retired the last three men he faced to keep the BayBears within one.

The Mobile BayBears have sent nearly 100 players to the major leagues. They battle the Lookouts in the finale of their four-game set on Tuesday night at 7:05 with Matt Torra (6-6, 3.69) getting the start. For Hank Aaron Stadium tickets, call (251) 479-BEAR or log on to www.mobilebaybears.com.
