Mobile BayBears News Release
MOBILE, Ala. - A big day for a couple former BayBears as Justin Upton and Mark Reynolds both have the opportunity to represent the Arizona Diamondbacks for the National League in the 2009 Major League Baseball All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 13 at Busch Stadium.
Upton, the 21-year-old phenom who spent most of 2007 with the BayBears, has paced the Diamondbacks' offense with a .301 average along with 14 home runs and 45 RBI this year. The number one overall draft choice in 2005, Upton is heading to his first All-Star Game as a big leaguer.
Reynolds, a 16th-round draft pick of the Diamondbacks in 2004, has been chosen as one of five finalists for the NL Final Man Vote. The former BayBear has slammed 24 home runs in the first half of the 2009 season to go with a team-high 61 runs batted in. He's also reached a career-high with 13 steals.
