Myrtle Beach, SC (July 5, 2009) - The new catching platoon may be taking some at-bats away from Luis Exposito, but it has only led him to capitalize even more often on the opportunities when they have been presented. Exposito, on the bench yesterday after going 4-4 with two walks on Friday, went 3-4 and drove in the go-ahead runs with a double in the eighth inning to propel Salem past Myrtle Beach 6-4 in the series finale. Exposito finished with three RBI and brought his season average up to .301. Since the All-Star Break, Exposito has gone 13-26 (.500) with seven RBI.

Salem trailed 4-1 after Myrtle Beach connected for a pair of solo homers in the top of the fifth off Eammon Portice, but the Sox would rally back with three of their own to tie it in the sixth. Cody Johnson and Donell Linares went back-to-back to begin the fifth, and they each finished with two RBI. Portice yielded four runs on seven hits over five innings before giving way to the bullpen as the Red Sox tied it up in the sixth.

Salem's pen tossed four scoreless innings, with Robert Coello earning the victory in relief. Coello improved to 3-2, striking out four over two frames. Kyle Fernandes tossed a scoreless eighth and Derrick Loop picked up his tenth save by closing the door in the ninth.

Che-Hsuan Lin combined with Exposito to represent 75% of the Salem offense, as Lin also went 3-4. The Taiwanese center-fielder reached base and scored every time he led off an inning, rounding the bases after a first-inning single, a sixth-inning single, and a double to begin the eighth.

Through 80 games in 2009, the Red Sox are 40-40, including an 8-3 start to the second half.

The longest road trip of the year, ten games in total, continues on Monday night as Salem journeys to Winston-Salem for a four-game series at Wake Forest Baseball Park. Seth Garrison will start for the Red Sox in game one against Johnnie Lowe for the Dash in a matchup of right-handers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00.
